I don’t catch babies,
I hold Mothers
Why do I need a doula?
Because Birth Matters.
It is not only a moment, but a journey that is life changing.
Birth is sacred and deserves to be honoured, no matter how it happens.
Giving birth is like a rite of passage and I believe that when a baby is born, a mother is born too.
A doula is a non-medical professional support person for birthing people and their families. A doula works alongside the midwife and your birth team. She is someone who supports and walks beside the birthing family as they navigate pregnancy, birth, postpartum (which is forever). Doulas provide informational, physical, emotional and spiritual support throughout the reproductive journey. It’s someone who masters the art of holding your hand through the big transitions in life: birth, death, rebirth. I am an expert in feeling and reading energies, I understand the intricacies of life and want to honour, not rush through, them.
Birth is wild. Birth is political. Birth is primal. Birth is ceremonial. Birth is a death and a new beginning.
My agenda is to hold space for you, so you find the time to really feel and work through what’s going on.
As a doula I am here to radically support people in this transformation into parenthood. My 4 pillars of work are: emotional support, physical support, informational support and advocacy.
I form a deep connection and relationship with my clients, help them plan the birth and the postpartum time. We prepare body, mind and soul, release fears, debrief previous birth experiences, and focus on all the elements so you feel empowered and prepared and most importantly in charge! You don’t need to be fixed. You have everything already in you.
Every birth is different and requires different areas of support. While an unmedicated birth might require more physical support, a birth with medication or a cesarean often requires more emotional and informational support.
Doulas are still unknown, but we are really at the cusp of dramatic change in birth.
I am more determined than ever to change the way women are treated during birth, because:
YOU ARE IN CHARGE!
You are allowed to say no, you call the shots, your body your choice. You are allowed to question everything and get the resources you need to make an informed decision. You deserve to have support through this all.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS ALONE.
